ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!

Beginning August 15, 1997 Palimpsest onLine! began accepting open submissions from writers not associated with Penn State University. Employees of Penn State University are automatically excluded from acceptance.

Palimpsest onLine! is the electronic World Wide Web version of The Palimpsest Review and acceptance in this on line version in no way means inclusion in any other version of the publication. For further information, contact the editor. Penn State students should be aware that their work will continue to be accepted for publication in both the online and print versions of the publication.

A Word about Our Editors:
Since its founding Palimpsest has enjoyed the services of many excellent poets and short story writers serving on its panel of judges. But we are equally blessed with the very high quality of our faculty editors. It is only appropriate that we keep our readers informed about the success of these folks who add so much to the quality of the magazine.

Mike Riley, an Associate Professor in English, is also involved in administration, having accepted the position of Division Head for Liberal Arts in the new Berks Lehigh Valley College of Penn State. His poetry has appeared in such acclaimed literary journals as Poetry, Poet Lore, Cumberland Poetry Review, and The Fiddlehead. Mike's first book, Scrimshaw: Citizens of Bone, was published by Lightning Tree Press. Currently, several presses in Ireland have his manuscript, Circling the Stones, under review.

Antonio Vallone, an Associate Professor in English, has two book-length collections of poems, The Blackbirds' Applause and Grass Saxaphones, and a chapbook-length poem, Chinese Bats, in print.  A third full-length collection, Golden Carp, is under review with various publishers.  Tony is also editor of Mammoth Press, Inc., a literary publishing company, and the editor of Pennsylvania English, the journal of the Pennsylvania College English Association.

Dinty Moore, an Associate Professor of English, has published two books: The Emperor's Virtual Clothes (1995) and The Accidental Buddhist (1997), both by Algonquin Press. His short stories have appeared in such acclaimed journals as The Iowa Review, The Southern Review, The Georgia Review, and Pink Cadillac. His essays have appeared in The New York Times Magazine and the PhiladelphiaInquirer.

Editors with credits like these place Palimpsest in a category unlike any other student literary magazine in the country.
