Stoichiometry

These pages are designed to familiarize the user with some of the stoichiometric concepts and calculations used when dealing with chemical reactions.  These concepts and calcualtions can be addressed through the use of some reaction simulations. The simulations are designed to obey the stoichiometric principles that have been at the heart of modern chemistry since the second half of the 18th century (that is, the later 1700's).

Although these pages can be used independently, they have been designed for use with a series of worksheets.  If you don't have these worksheets, you may need to download and print them before continuing:

NaCl Reaction
Worksheet 1
(stNaCl1.rtf)
Go to the simulation of the reaction of sodium, Na(s), with chlorine, Cl2 (g), to form sodium chloride, NaCl(s) , (table salt).

PCl3 Reaction
Worksheet 1
(stPCl31.rtf)
Go to the simulation of the reaction of phosphorus, P4 (s), with chlorine, Cl2 (g) , to form phosphorus trichloride, PCl3 (l).
