Mass Laws

These pages are designed to familiarize the user with some simple "Laws" involved in chemical reactions.  Several of these laws can be examined with a single reaction.

Although these pages can be used independently, they have been designed for use with a series of worksheets.  If you don't have these worksheets, you may need to download and print them before continuing:

NaCl Reaction
Worksheet 1(MLNaCl1.rtf)
Worksheet 2(MLNaCl2.rtf)
Go to the simulation of the reaction of sodium, Na(s), with chlorine, Cl2 (g), to form sodium chloride, NaCl(s) , (table salt).
PCl3 Reaction
Worksheet 1(MLPCl31.rtf)
Worksheet 2(MLPCl32.rtf)
Go to the simulation of the reaction of phosphorus, P4 (s), with chlorine, Cl2 (g) , to form phosphorus trichloride, PCl3 (l).
C and O2 Reaction
Worksheet 1(MLCO1.rtf)
Worksheet 2(MLCO2.rtf)
Go to the simulations of the reaction of carbon, C(s), with oxygen, O2 (g), to form oxides of carbon, CO(g) or CO2 (g).
