PROJECT #4
Formal Structures
Assignment -- find example(s) of
concepts/elements introduced in class for your art form
Be sure to have a group
meeting after individual example searches to discuss and choose effective
examples
Turn in examples to me during the
afternoon before the due date
If there are any questions, technical
problems, contact me!
Painting: (2 examples each of middle
form—within a single panel)
Sculpture: (2 examples each)
Architecture: (2 examples each)
Music: Find pieces on the form CD-R (on
reserve in Library) for the three forms your group is assigned. Record the timings
of the sections of each piece. Create a listening guide in PowerPoint that
details the form of your three pieces. For each section of the piece, have a
screen that labels its location in the form. Also, provide written commentary
explaining your choice of section. For example, if it’s a set of variations (
(A1, A2, A3, A4, A5...) you’d have the same basic melody, but it could be
varied in its rhythm or instrumentation (or both) during each variation.
During the presentation the tech support person can advance the PowerPoint
screens by hand as music plays and each event occurs.
